CCPCS Library & Innovation: Policies

Capital City PCS Policies

The Capital City PCS library is the instructional heart of the school, serving all members of our community. Our mission is to develop students who are prepared for the demands of the 21st century, and provide teachers with a robust collection of relevant instructional assets. Through the mastery of our Books, Information, and Technology curriculum, students will be empowered to become creative & critical thinkers, lifelong readers, and effective collaborators. We will foster these skills by:

  1. actively developing a resource-rich information center with a carefully selected and organized collection of diverse learning resources;
  2. actively developing a collection of high interest, on-level literature to foster the habit of reading for pleasure;
  3. support the development of strong language and literacy skills through programming and outreach;
  4. teaching information, media, and technology literacy skills through a combination of direct, integrated, and collaborative instructional models;
  5. providing reference services, instructional support, and training on how to access resources;
  6. exposing students and staff to advances in educational best practices and instructional technology that are relevant to their academic progress.
