Create a Home Base for Learning

Students need one place to go to access all of their content for your course. They need a home base.

In the High School:

Canvas courses are created for each classroom; Canvas is intended to be a home base. If you use Google Classroom in place of Canvas, you must make sure that your Canvas webpage includes information about how students and families can access your Google Classroom.

In the Middle School:

Google Classroom will be used to provide a home base for your course.

Best Practice: Make a Checklist

One recommendation to make online learning easier for students is to post a new checklist the night before for the next day or week. Include links in these checklists when possible to make things more accessible for students. Teach your students to look at the checklist first.

  • Create a checklist in Google Classroom using Classwork Topics. The topic can refer to the daily or weekly expectations for your class, and the assignments can be organized within that topic.
  • Create checklists in Canvas using Announcements, or organizing Modules.
